Perch

Los Angeles
French Restaurant
$$$$

This bar-centric restaurant from the Must guys is so laden with foliage and lounge chairs, it's like a rooftop version of Disney's Tiki Room; and if that's not enough to get you in there, Perch also has French grub like rabbit rillette with braised plums, candied kumquat & vanilla shallot marmalade; pork confit cassoulet with pork belly & cracklings; and the three-mini-club platter called "Duck, Duck, Goose."

This open-air restaurant spans two floors atop a historic building that overlooks surrounding office towers and adjacent Pershing Square. The plant-lined 15th-floor dining area features vintage-looking tile floors, and the 16th-floor rooftop is dotted with potted plants and fire pits. Perch is ostensibly a modern French bistro with date-friendly vibes and dishes like French Onion Soup, Filet Mignon Au Poivre, and Little Bunny Frou Frou, which is rabbit ravioli accompanied by a parsnip-brioche crumble. Weekend brunch may be the most popular time to visit Perch for bellinis and Benedicts topped with smoked salmon or Maryland blue crab.

Tuck into one of the mismatched garden chairs at this charming, multilevel restaurant that’s known for its rooftop bar and stunning views. The 15th floor dining room and patio is, well, perched over the Downtown LA skyline, with floor-to-ceiling windows on the interior so practically every table has a jaw-dropping view. The dinner menu includes French classics like Moules, Baked Brie, and Little Bunny Frou Frou (rabbit ravioli), but the prix-fixe dinner menus are also worth your attention, with your choice of three or four courses, and featuring popular items like the Fromage and Charcuterie Plate to start and Boeuf Bordelaise as an entree option. Perch is a popular weekend brunch spot, with its own three-course, prix-fixe menu and seasonal fruit sangria offered by the glass or the pitcher.
How to book: Reservations are required — Make a reservation by calling the restaurant at 213-802-1770. Tables booked for 8 pm or later are for the 21 and over crowd.

One of our essential dining experiences in LA, this French-inspired restaurant has one of the best views in the city, but did you know that one floor above it is a bar with even better views? And the drinks, with titles that take inspiration from Hollywood films and literature, pair perfectly with the rapidly changing DTLA skyline (which we’ll take as an excuse to come back again and again). Stick with the rooftop theme and order All The Way Up, with Absolut Elyx, lemon, St Germaine, creme de mure, soda and sparkling wine. A live DJ plays on the weekends beginning at 9 pm.
How to book: Reservations are available on their website and walk-ins are welcome.
